Cherokee has turned it his silk after 9 races and after graduating The Greyhound Inmate Experience. Cherokee is a big boy with a very big personality and will need an owner that can rein him in. He is still new here at AFG and we are getting to know him better. Could this cowboy be the one for you?
Cherokee is a such a gentle big boy! Thanks to the fabulous prison training program, he was already very well adjusted when we began fostering him. He’s curious in new surroundings, and has settled in well with our two greyhounds. He LOVES his toys, so keep an eye on that one to make sure that he doesn’t get aggressive/resource guarding! He has been a very good friend to his other doggie housemates, so that is great. Cherokee has been on many walks throughout the neighborhood and is doing better every day with all of the distractions. However, watch out of his prey drive for small animals! He will probably always want to go after them. Keeping him focused on his job during walks will be an ongoing process. He knows his name well, and is generally very easily redirected if we see him starting to get into something that he shouldn’t be getting into! Cherokee follows directions well, goes into his crate when asked.
He is just a super sweet guy!
