Tillie has headed into retirement with 89 dashing races around the track and is a mother as well. She is still new to us here at AFG and we are getting to know her better. Could this brindle beauty be the one to occupy a place in your heart?
Tillie is a really happy, bubbly girl. She is enthusiastic about everything, but can get a little wound up when she is in new situations as she will pant, whine and pace. Once she adjusts to a new environment, she relaxes really well and can often be found roaching away against walls and doorways where she seems to like to lay. She loves her toys, but sometimes needs reminders as to what is and is not acceptable to play with such as toilet paper! She goes bananas over squeaky toys! She also likes to carry stuffies around. Tillie loves to just lay next to you quietly too and being petted. We have 4 other female greyhounds in the house and she gets along well with all of them. When she first got her she would growl at them when they walked by her crate when she was in it, especially when she had food, but she got over that pretty quickly. Tillie does like to bark and unusual for a greyhound, seems to have some watch dog qualities! We have a big window facing our street and she will alert us when people are walking by or the dogs across the street are out in their yards. This has been reduced somewhat as we correct her and she does redirect pretty easily. She also sometimes will bark if she hears noises outside such as neighbors talking. Because of her barking in situations like this, I’m not sure that she would make a good apartment dog if she were to hear noises in the hallway.
