This shy little girl is a huge sweetheart! She only ran in 12 races and is now ready for a forever dog bed.
Holly is a super affectionate little red head with plenty of puppy energy and the sweetest disposition. Don’t let her initial shyness fool you, when she feels comfortable with you she will seek you out for cuddles and attention. She loves leaning into people when getting pets until they are supporting her weight.
Holly is very curious and enjoys exploring new things and investigating interesting sights, sounds, and smells. She has no hesitation crossing uncarpeted floors and easily navigates the few steps on the deck at her foster home. She would probably learn stairs easily if she was motivated to explore a new space.
Holly gets along with the two greyhounds and cat in her foster home. She gave the cat a thorough inspection, but has not been aggressive toward him. She also enjoys teasing the neighbor’s dog and running along the fence line with him. She can be a little possessive with toys, so it would be good to monitor her play when other dogs are around. She is easy to redirect by offering a “trade” of another toy or a small treat.
Holly is a quick learner and takes cues easily. She is equally motivated by affection, toys, and treats. She goes in her crate willingly and has been polite about staying off furniture (so far). She would love to be in a home that would allow her to snuggle on the sofa with her favorite people. Holly has demonstrated occasional sleep startle growling at the other dogs, so she should ideally have a quiet space to sleep undisturbed. Making a little noise or calling her name works well to wake her up gently.
