Roxie has headed into retirement after an amazing 136 races! She is still new to us here at AFG and we are getting to know her better. Could Roxie be the hound that wins you over?
Roxie continues to do marvelously in foster care! She has adapted very well to retirement. She likes to hang out with the humans and hounds a like in our home and prefers to be in the same room with everyone. She is just as happy laying on a dog bed as she is in her crate which she often goes into on her own so we live the door to it open at all times. She is quite food motivated and heads to her crate where she is fed and lays down waiting patiently as her foster mom prepares everyone’s dinner bowls. She loves running around in the yard with the other greyhounds and gets quite competitive when she is running. We always muzzle her and our other dogs here as a rule just to make sure everyone is safe while they are having fun outside. She is still a little vocal when we get home initially, but not near as much since we ignore her at first and make sure she is calm before we let her out of her crate. Roxie is a lovey girl who loves standing and being quietly petted. She has done fine when she has been around cats. She has been a little excitable with smaller dogs under 20 pounds or so, but has been fine when she has been around larger small dogs such as a pug and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She has really blossomed and gained confidence over her time in foster care and will be a nice addition to a family.
