Poppy came to us from Australia, where she didn’t race.

Poppy can come off as a bit of a wallflower when she is out and about—she wants to keep an eye on the action but not always be involved in the action. She would rather hang out with the people and get ear rubs. Poppy prefers her walks to be short and leisurely, and as long as no squirrels are teasing her, she walks very politely on the leash. She is confident meeting new people and dogs, and stairs and hard floors are a breeze for this girl!

Poppy does need a friend in sight when left alone to be totally content, but otherwise she is a very good girl who will run right into her crate, sleep until you return, and then she’ll likely greet you with a few joyful hops and pirouettes!

Once she is settled in a home, Poppy is major goofball with the most expressive face! She LOVES all toys but particularly soft, squeaky ones. She has a habit of collecting all of the toys where she prefers to lay and periodically throwing them for herself. While she isn’t as big of a fan of the outdoors as some of the hounds, her favorite season is stick season. It’s always an extra special treat when Poppy finds a good stick in the yard! She would love to help you with your yard clean-up.

Poppy would really love to share your couch (and obviously your bed) as she is a major snuggle bug. However, she is also a quick learner and correctable if you’d prefer she sticks to a dog bed. She is very treat motivated, especially for cheese, so her future family can probably teach her a lot of fun tricks!

If you’re looking for a greyhound who is a model canine citizen in public and the perfect mix of spunky and snuggly at home, Poppy might be the girl for you!
