Patron was recently returned due to no fault of his own. This big boy is surprisingly chill and easygoing. He was in a remarkable 115 races before retiring. Is he the chill dude for you?
Patron is a very large, handsome greyhound with an easy-going personality and a lot of charm. He enjoys being around his people and likes to be part of whatever is going on in the home. Patron has a great balance of energy and relaxation—he’s happy to head out for a long walk and explore, but he’s just as content with a shorter stroll followed by an evening relaxing next to the couch.
Patron also has an adorable way of asking for playtime. When he’s feeling excited, he does a little “happy dance” where he drops into a play bow and shuffles his front feet until someone joins him for fun. It’s hard not to smile when you see it!
Patron has his own opinions about snacks. He can be a bit particular about his treats, and if he decides he doesn’t approve, he’ll politely spit it right back out! His foster family is also working with him on food puzzles and enrichment toys, though he’s still figuring out how they work.
Patron does have some guarding behavior around beds. He will set boundaries with other dogs, so a dog that respects this and humans that consistently work with him would be good. He has previously lived as an only dog with children and cats and did well in that situation. The good news is that Patron responds well to correction and redirection, and he is learning what is expected of him with consistency.
This big boy has a lot of love to give and will thrive in a home that appreciates his personality and provides structure, patience, and plenty of cozy time nearby.
