This little girl has come out of her shell and is ready for her forever home! Sheba is a sweet, fun little girl. She was diagnosed with high blood pressure, which means that she takes medication daily to lower her blood pressure and will for the rest of her life. Before she was medicated, she was more shy, but she’s become more happy, outgoing, and friendly now that her blood pressure has been treated. Is this sweet cow a girl for you?

Sheba is a bright and curious pup with a sweet personality. She is a little shy about new situations and with new people, but when she’s had time to decompress and settle in, she really opens up. She has plenty of energy to explore and sniff. She loves bouncing around the yard and seeing the neighbor’s dog. She also enjoys playing with toys of all kinds – the squeakier the better!

Sheba likes other dogs and has been fine with the cat in her foster home (she gives him a lot of sniffs and mostly wants to steal his treats). She may feel more secure around dogs than people initially, so she would likely benefit from having another dog in the house to show her the ropes. She doesn’t understand why the dogs in her foster home just want to sleep all day! She is learning pretty quickly not to bother them when they are snoozing, but she would love to have a friend in the house who is willing to play with her.

Sheba crates well with minimal whining when she wants to be let out. She eats well, enjoys treats, and has no problem taking her daily medication with meals. We are still working on leash manners, and she can spook in new environments, so a yard with a fence for turn-outs would work best for her. She responds well to correction when she tests boundaries, and when she is nervous or scared she just finds a quiet place to curl up for a while. She handles smooth floors well and can navigate the short flight of stairs on the deck at her foster home, but she hasn’t attempted longer flights of stairs yet.

Sheba has super soft fur and enjoys getting neck and head scritches. She is starting to seek attention and will lean on me to get gentle pets and she also loves getting belly rubs. She avoids reaching grabby hands, so I let her choose when she wants to have physical affection. When she trusts someone, she gives them little licky kisses. She has a good sniffer and is intelligent, so she might do well with nose work activities with some training from a handler she trusts.

If you have the patience to let Sheba get past her initial shyness, you’ll be rewarded with a loveable sweet and affectionate companion.
