Welcome to the first step to adopting a retired racing greyhound. Start the process today by filling out this adoption application. Only one application is needed. You do not need to fill out multiple applications for each of the greyhounds you might be interested in. We ask that you please fill out all fields completely. If a section is not applicable, please indicate with “N/A” in the field. AFG has an adoption radius that covers Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana. That is about a two hour radius of the Grand Rapids, MI. area. If you are outside of that radius, we can refer you to some other greyhound adoption groups. If you have a greyhound or a greyhound in the past and are outside this radius, please contact us.
We cannot accept an adoption application from families that have a child(ren) under the age of 6 years old that live in their home. All of the child(ren) must be 6 years old or older to be eligible to adopt a retired racing greyhound through Allies for Greyhounds.
Our volunteers will then review your application and get in touch with you as soon as possible. It can often take our volunteers around 2 weeks to check references and process an application. Check your spam folder after application submission, just to make sure an important email from us did not go in there. If you have not received a response from Allies in over 2 weeks please contact us to check on your application submission.
***** Please note that due to the influx of applications, the processing time is 4 to 6 weeks*****
If you do not have cats or small dogs living in your home, please consider adopting one of our hounds that are not cat or small dog safe. The higher prey drive hounds are just as lovable, friendly, and outgoing towards people, but often wait longer for a forever home due to their prey drive.
