Gus is a little shy but warms up to his people quickly. He’s a sweet boy who just needs a little time to know you as his forever people. Gus was in 46 races but was ready for a soft dog bed snuggled up next to his people.
Gus loves everyone! He is sweet and polite. While we NEVER trust a grey with an open door, he does know “wait” so he doesn’t charge when I open the door to take them out to go potty, (its a secure door to go out to the potty yard) and it is a good thing to know just in case. Once I am through the door and down the steps I just say, “OK, come on” and he heads out fast to go out. He doesn’t counter surf, get on the furniture or have “accidents” in the house.
He is a quirky guy with a very short tail and only 3 toes on his back left foot!! He is very easy go lucky with day to day life. He has no space aggression or sleep startle. He doesn’t mind if other dogs are in his space BUT he will get in their space too so he would prefer a partner dog without space issues. He does need work on a leash. I highly recommend a harness and an experienced handler until he gets comfortable on a leash. Due to some health issues, I have not been able to properly leash train him. I have no doubt that he will get there in a not long period of consistent walking. He is very strong so he will need a strong adult and a very secure leash until he gets used to it.
